Customizing leave policy pay rate
When creating a leave policy, you now have the option to customize whether the leave request should be paid, unpaid, or partially paid based on the number of leave days taken by an employee. This eliminates the need for manual tracking of leave requests and payroll deductions.
A good example of this is a sick leave policy
An employee is entitled to a sick leave of not more than 90 days per year, only after the end of the probationary period. The salary is paid as follows:
|
To set this up in a single policy, follow the steps below:
Note: This setting works when the payroll module is enabled and salaries for employees are configured.
Step 1
Under Settings, click on Leaves and select Leave Policies.
Step 2
Click on Add New to create a new leave policy.
Step 3
Create a new policy from scratch or use a template and customize it. Let's select the Sick leave template and click on Start from this template.
Step 4
Navigate to the Leave pay rate section to review the pay rates and adjust settings if required.
Leave allowance is considered used when the leave request is approved
- Add up to 5 pay rate conditions in a policy
- Use operators to set the range of leave allowance used in a condition
Payroll deduction occurs only if the employee's leave request meets a condition for the number of days used. Otherwise, the default pay rate applies.
Selecting a partially paid or unpaid option allows you to set up the daily wage calculations for unpaid leaves.
Step 5
Upon saving, assign this policy to the relevant employees as needed using the '>>' icon as shown below or click on move all if this policy is applicable to all employees.
To Unassigned employees you can click on the cross 'x' icon or Remove all.
Scroll down and click Next when complete.
Step 6
Confirm or edit the details shown for each employee (Allowance, Pro-rated Days, and Days Used). For example, edit the "Used Days" column if an employee has already consumed/applied for days of this leave type in the past.
Your new leave will be added to your list of leave policies and you can make edits as needed by clicking on the pencil icon.
