Day offs are designated as days when shift employees are not expected to work. In the defined shift schedule, schedulers or admins should explicitly mark specific days as day offs for the employees, notifying them accordingly.
There might be instances where employees are required to work on their scheduled day off. In such scenarios, employees may or may not receive overtime pay for the hours worked, depending on the organization's attendance and overtime policies.

For shift employees, there are configuration options available to schedule a day off, with or without allowing the employees to check in on both the web interface and mobile app.
Web interface
Step 1: Navigate to Shift Scheduler under Time to access the Scheduling interface.
Step 2: Click on an empty shift cell, a weekend, or a cell with a public holiday for an employee on a specific date to schedule a day off.
Step 3: Open the create shift dialog, and turn on the toggle for 'mark this as a day off' to designate this day off for the employee. Enabling the toggle reveals a checkbox—' Allow the employee to check in on the day off.'
Step 4: If the day off doesn't require the employee to check in and work extra, leave the checkbox 'Allow the employee to check in on the day off' unchecked.
In case the employee needs to check in on the day off, select this checkbox and choose the required work timing and office.
Step 5: Save as Draft to create a draft shift of the day off type for further review, or publish it directly using the Save & Publish button.
Mobile interface
Step 1: After logging into the mobile app as a scheduler or an admin, go to the shift scheduler menu option under the Manager mode
Step 2: Tap on the floating ‘+’ icon or tap on an empty shift cell, a weekend, or a cell with a public holiday for an employee on a specific date to schedule a day off.
Step 3: Open the create shift page, and turn on the toggle for 'mark this as a day off' to designate this day off for the employee.
Step 5: Save as Draft to create a draft shift of the day-off type for further review, or publish it directly using the Save & Publish button.
Note: If an employee has been assigned to an overtime policy with a configured overtime rate under custom rates for day offs, then hours worked on the day off will be calculated for overtime.
