Setting up the hierarchy for leaves will allow you to define who approves leave requests for each of your team members.
To configure leave approval flows, go to Settings > Approval flows > Leaves.
If you do not see the leave approval flow, please contact customersuccess@bayzat.com to enable it for your company’s account.
Here you can set the roles responsible for responding to an employee's leave request. The default approval flow is set as follows:
It’s possible to change the approval flow at any time. To set the approval flow as desired, please go through the functions explained below:
Adding steps
Adding steps to the approval flow will allow approvers to respond to the request in a sequential order.
In case you’d like an employee's line manager to respond to a leave request first and only notify the leaves manager to take action next.
Selecting additional managers for approval
In case an employee's leave request needs the approval of their manager and additionally manager’s manager, then you may set this by selecting as many levels (bottom-up) from the line manager’s hierarchy.
In the image example, an employee’s leave request will require the approval of 2 managers; first their immediate line manager (A) and then their line manager’s manager (B).
Adding approver in the same block
In case anyone with a selected role (eg leaves manager) is not available to respond on a leave request, you can delegate approval to another user role (eg super admin) by adding them in the same block. This will allow either a leave manager or a super admin to respond to the leave requests and timely notify employees of their request’s status.
Adding approver in another block
In case you’d like to add multiple mandatory approvers, you can add them in the same step as another block. In this example, once the line manager approves, a leaves manager and a super admin will be notified at the same time to respond to the leave request and both responses are necessary to approve the leave request.
Notes:
If a request is rejected by any of the approvers in a step, the request immediately becomes fully rejected and does not proceed for further approval.
Only the Super Admin can configure approval flows.
If a Line Manager is configured as an approver, the role must be assigned to them initially when setting up permissions under Role Management. Click here to learn more about setting up employee permissions.
