When creating a 360 review survey, you can use Bayzat AI to generate questions automatically. The AI creates relevant, role-appropriate questions based on the instructions you provide.
This guide explains how to write effective prompts to get the best results.
What is a Prompt?
A prompt is a short instruction you give the AI describing what kind of survey questions you want. Think of it as a brief. The clearer your brief, the more relevant the generated questions will be.
How to Access AI Survey Generation
- Go to Performance > 360 Reviews > Click on an existing 360 Review > Click on Surveys tab.
- Click Create Survey on any participant group.
- Select Start with Bayzat AI and Click "Skip, Let Bayzat AI decide"
- You will see a prompt input field on the left and a questions-per-section table on the right.
Writing a Good Prompt
Be Specific About What You Want to Evaluate
Instead of a general request, name the exact skills, behaviors, or competencies you want to assess. This helps the AI focus on what matters to your organization rather than generating generic questions.
Good: "Create a peer feedback survey focused on collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills"
Weak: "Create a survey"
Mention the Reviewer Type
Different reviewers observe different things. A manager evaluates leadership and delegation. A peer evaluates teamwork and reliability. A direct report evaluates support and approachability. Telling the AI who is answering helps it frame questions from the right perspective and use the right tone.
Good: "Create a manager survey to assess team leadership, delegation, and growth potential"
Good: "Create a self-assessment survey on time management and goal achievement"
Add Organizational Context
If your company has specific values, competency frameworks, or focus areas, include them in the prompt. The AI will tailor questions to match your culture and evaluation criteria rather than using generic industry standards.
Good: "Create a peer review survey for our engineering team focused on code quality, knowledge sharing, and cross-team collaboration"
Good: "Create a 360 feedback survey aligned with our company values of ownership, transparency, and customer focus"
Combine Multiple Dimensions
You can ask the AI to cover several areas in one prompt. List them clearly so the AI addresses each one. This is useful when you want a comprehensive survey that spans different competency areas in a single generation.
Good: "Create a comprehensive manager evaluation covering strategic thinking, team development, stakeholder communication, and decision-making under pressure"
Specify Tone or Format Preferences
If you want questions written in a certain style, tell the AI. You can request behavioral-based questions that ask for real examples, or simple direct questions suited for rating scales. This controls the output format without you having to edit each question manually.
Good: "Create behavioral-based questions that ask for specific examples of how the employee demonstrates leadership"
Good: "Create simple, direct questions that can be answered on a 1-5 rating scale"
Prompt Examples by Use Case
Here are ready-to-use prompts for common scenarios. Copy any of these into the prompt field and adjust to fit your needs.
| Use Case | Example Prompt |
| Peer feedback | Create a peer feedback survey assessing collaboration, reliability, and willingness to help others succeed |
| Manager evaluation | Create a manager evaluation survey covering leadership, delegation, conflict resolution, and team development |
| Self-assessment | Create a self-assessment survey for employees to reflect on their goal achievement, time management, and areas for growth |
| Upward review | Create an upward review survey for direct reports to evaluate their manager on communication, support, fairness, and career development guidance |
| Culture fit | Create a 360 feedback survey focused on company values: integrity, customer obsession, and bias for action |
| Technical teams | Create a peer review survey for software engineers covering code quality, technical mentoring, documentation, and incident response |
| New managers | Create a 360 review survey for first-time managers focusing on the transition from individual contributor to people leader, including delegation, feedback delivery, and team morale |
After Generating
The AI generates questions as a starting point. You always have full control over the output.
- Review the generated questions in each section.
- Edit the wording of any question that does not fit.
- Reorder or delete questions as needed.
- Add your own questions manually if something is missing.
- Click Save once you are happy with the survey.
Tip: You can regenerate questions at any time by going back to the AI prompt screen. Your previous prompt will still be there so you can refine it and try again.
Quick Reference: What Makes a Good Prompt
| Do | Don't |
| Name specific skills and competencies | Use vague requests like "create a survey" |
| Mention who is answering (peer, manager, self) | Assume the AI knows the reviewer type |
| Include your company values or frameworks | Leave out organizational context |
| List multiple areas to cover | Limit yourself to one dimension |
| Specify the tone or question style you want | Hope the default style matches your needs |
